Description
Motivation and application domain
Design, fabrication and characterization of nanoengineered polyelectrolyte capsules for ultrasound stimulation.
General objectives and main activities
Polyelectrolyte based microcapsules, based both on synthetic and natural polymers, will be developed. The microcapsules will be characterized by quartz crystal microbalance, optical microscopy and fluorescent microscopy. The ultrasounds triggered release will be characterized using model drugs and uv-vis spectroscopy. In vitro tests will be carried out on immortalized cell lines to evaluate the feasiability of the proposed approach
Training Objectives (technical/analytical tools, experimental methodologies)
To gain practical experience in the development, engineerization and characterization of nanoengineered polyelectrolyte capsules for the controlled release of drugs.
Place(s) where the thesis work will be carried out: DIBRIS, University of Genova
