Description
Motivation and application domain
Design, fabrication and characterization of active porous scaffolds made from biodegradable and biocompatible CO2-derived polymers.
General objectives and main activities
Scaffolds will be fabricated by electrospinning process to obtain nanofibril mat with large surface area and porosity. The scaffolds will be made of poly(propylene carbonate), other natural polymers (to adjust the rigidity of the scaffold) and active molecules (antioxidant, antibacterial or drug molecules).
Training Objectives (technical/analytical tools, experimental methodologies)
To gain practical experience in the development, engineerization and characterization of electrospun biopolymeric scaffolds
Place(s) where the thesis work will be carried out: University of Limerick
