Flexible Multielectrode Arrays for Neurotransmitter Detection

General objectives and main activities
This thesis project will be performed at the Louisiana Tech University, under the supervision of Prof. Elisa Castagnola. The mein objectives and the main activities will be:
- Fabrication and electrochemical characterization of implantable flexible neural probes for in vivo recording and sensing.
- Optimization of electrochemical detection of neurotransmitters (Dopamine, Serotonin and Acetylcholine) in vitro and in vivo in rodent brains.

Training Objectives (technical/analytical tools, experimental methodologies)
- Fabrication of implantable flexible neural probes using photolithography.
- Electrochemical techniques for characterization of neural device.
- Electrochemical techniques for neurotransmitter detection in vitro and in vivo in rodent brains.
- Rodent brain surgery.
