Title (tentative): Metabolic behavior differentiation of contralateral and homolateral striatum: correlation with glioma uptake, size, and location in pediatric neuro-oncologyThesis advisor(s): Trò Rossella | E-mail: |

Description
Motivation and application domain
In clinical practice, radiologists and nuclear medicine clinicians extract static parameters, i.e. tumor-to-striatum (T/S) and tumor-to-background tissue (T/N), considering the striatum contralateral to the tumor lesion. Within this thesis the student will study the metabolic behavior of the two striatum to understand the relationship with glioma uptake and site.
General objectives and main activities
Student will study uptake of striatum and gliomas to find possible correlation in metabolic activity. One of the main objectives is to understand if it is possible to predict the hemispheres’ location of the tumor by considering the metabolic behavior of the striatum.
Training Objectives (technical/analytical tools, experimental methodologies)
Student will learn how to handle multimodal imaging data, i.e., static and dynamic [18 F] F DOPA PET, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT). Moreover, will employ Python for coding, applying statical analysis and machine learning.
