Description
Motivation and application domain
Design, fabrication and characterization of protein delivery systems able to overcome the limitations of current delivery protocols
General objectives and main activities
The in vivo delivery of proteins presents some problems related to their susceptibility to denaturation and poor bioavailability. In order to solve these problems, the delivery by their conjugation to nanocarriers is required. In this respect, biocompatible and biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles will be prepared by nanoprecipitation and functionalized in order to promote their conjugation with therapeutic proteins. The developed nanoformulations will be encapsulated in micro-containers for their efficient in vivo delivery.
Training Objectives (technical/analytical tools, experimental methodologies)
To gain practical experience in the development and engineerization of a multifunctional system to overcome problems related to the in vivo delivery of therapeutic proteins.
Place(s) where the thesis work will be carried out: DIBRIS, DICCI
