Description
Motivation and application domain
The candidate’s work is geared towards defining whether beta modulation during a visuo-motor adaptation task differs from that of a simple motor task and how the two change in the course of several block repetition in the course of the entire day.
General objectives and main activities
The candidate will work on implementing routines to analyze kinematic data of visuo-motor adaptation tasks as well as simple motor tasks. She will also test subjects with different motor tasks during the recording of the EEG signal with 256 surface electrodes in experiments lasting for an entire day. She will analyze the kinematic and EEG data and determine correlations between the two data sets.
Training Objectives (technical/analytical tools, experimental methodologies)
The candidate will become expert in testing subjects during motor tasks, in the recording of kinematics and EEG during different types of motor tasks. Also she will acquire skills in the analysis of kinematics and in the analyses of the different phases of EEG data analyses. MATLAB will be the main tool.
Place(s) where the thesis work will be carried out: CCNY, New York and Dibris Genova
