Description

Motivation and application domain
Robots are currently used to enable stroke survivors to perform intensive training under the influence of assistive forces. However, present-generation devices only focus on the patient’s impairment at functional level and do not account for abnormal cortical and/or muscle activity. To move the field forward, we need to understand the interplay between central, muscle and movement (functional) level – first in healthy subjects, then in persons with neuromotor impairments.

General objectives and main activities
Robots are currently used to enable stroke survivors to perform intensive training under the influence of assistive forces. To move the field forward, we need to understand the interplay between central, muscle and movement (functional) level – first in healthy subjects, then in persons with neuromotor impairments.

Training Objectives (technical/analytical tools, experimental methodologies)
− Development of experimental set-up based on Matlab/Simulink
− Conducting experiments with healthy subjects
− Analysis of movement, EMG and EEG data with Matlab
